Our History

In 1948, Andy Konkol built a sawmill along Orofino Creek in Orofino, Idaho.  Along with his eldest son, Don, they operated Konkolville Lumber Company for the next 27 years.  After Andy's passing in 1975, Don continued to operating Konkolville Lumber and was joined by his son Greg in 1998.  Together they made many improvements to the facility and in 2007 they sold the plant to the Merritt family of Priest River, Idaho and it bacme Tri-Pro Forest products.  At that time, they employed approximately 100 people at the plant.  The modern facility had a ring debarker, double cut headrig, twin resaw, optimizing curve sawing edger, optimizing trimmer, 20 bin sorter/stacker system, 4 dry kilns, and a planning facility.

In 2008, Tri-Pro installed a second headrig system, a 6' slant headrig to accomidate larger logs.  Along with other improvments, the facility now has a monthly production of 4 million board feet on a two shift basis.  Employment has been reduced to about 1/2 of what it was in 2007.  Key personel include Steve Linton - president, Ron Cluster - vice president and sales, Lance Hubener - sales manager and shipping, Mike Boeck - resource manager, Jim Wells - plant manager, and Pat Goetz - administration.  The mill specializes in western red cedar and oversize logs in ponderosa pine, spruce, douglas fir, larch, grand fir, and hemlock.  Tri-Pro Forest is an innovative company with a solid workforce and an eye to the future.

We are constantly improving the facility to meet the needs of our customers and the forest products industry.
